5 MUST-HAVE TECH ITEMS FOR YOUR KITCHEN

Technology advances are constantly happening and it can be difficult to keep up. While you may be eyeing the latest iPhone, keep in mind that there is plenty of tech out there to help make your day-to-day life much easier. When it comes to kitchen tech, it seems like there’s something new everywhere you turn. Here are just a few new kitchen items that use technology to make your daily life a bit easier.

Smart Thermometers

Always checking temperatures when preparing a big family meal can quickly become overwhelming. Avoid the headache and pick up smart thermometer. It’s cooking a thermometer that will completely change your culinary experience. Just insert the thermometer into the deepest part of whatever you’re cooking (Thanksgiving turkey for example). The thermometer connects to an app via WiFi or Bluetooth where you can set an alert to go off when your meal reaches the desired temperature. Removing the guess work allows you to feel comfortable leaving the kitchen and enjoying more time with your guests while they’re there.

Smart Kettles

Are you an avid tea drinker like me? If you feel like you’re wasting time waiting for your water to boil, smart kettles would be a great addition to your kitchen. With wireless capabilities, you can pick a temperature and time and turn your kettle on right from your phone.  You can even set a schedule if you know you’re going to be drinking tea at the same time every day.  You can have the perfect cup of tea waiting for you any time you want it.

Quirky Egg Minder

How many times have you wondered if your eggs are still safe to eat?  Do you find yourself buying eggs whenever you’re at the store because you can’t remember if you need more?  The Quirky Egg Minder uses wireless tech to connect with an app on your phone.  It sends you notifications when you need to buy more eggs and it has LED lights to alert you when your eggs are going bad.  That’s “egg”cellent! (pun intended)

Digital Measuring Devices

Is baking one of your favorite activities? If so, precision is probably a big deal to you. A digital measuring cup or digital scale will weigh your items while also indicating the volume and it can convert from ounces to grams for you.  Some will even connect to your recipes and offer substitution suggestions or convert measures directly from them.  This is a game changer for the avid home baker at a minimal cost.

Slow Cookers/Pressure Cookers

What’s that you say? “Slow cookers aren’t high-tech.”  Not any longer!  Many slow cooker and pressure cooker brands (hello InstaPot fans) have WiFi models that you can control remotely via a phone app.  Gone are the days of rushing to get home to turn off your slow cooker for fear of burning dinner or worse (we all know what happens on the popular TV series “This Is Us”).  Now, you can set cooking time, turn on/off or adjust temperatures all from wherever you currently are as long as you have your phone.

Making your kitchen high-tech is easy and, honestly, not very expensive.  For example, you can find digital measuring cups for less than $10.  However, these simple gadgets can make your life easier and less stressful.  I’d say that’s worth the small investment.  Wouldn’t you?

What kitchen gadgets are you loving right now?  Do you have any of the ones I mentioned above?  Feel free to share your experiences with kitchen tech in the comments section or email me at Rachel@RachelKayla.com.  I’d love to know about your experiences with these items or others that will make time in the kitchen a time to look forward, too.
